“Unattached” youth are a major problem across Jamaica. Our strategy is to create a positive environment where youth can find their first taste of success.

Youth Sports Leagues

Sport has been an integral component of the Foundation's strategy since its inception. Our work encompasses both "Development OF Sport" and "Development THROUGH Sport" principles.

Thousands of persons have competed in our various leagues and competitions over the past 15 years.  We currently organize boys football, girls football, track & field and netball leagues in conjunction with local primary schools.

BMX Racing Track

In the summer of 2010 the Oracabessa Foundation embarked on an ambitious project to build the first BMX racing track in the English speaking Caribbean.  With funding from the USA Cycling Foundation and the Sports Development Foundation the track became a reality in July 2012.

In January of 2015 the Digicel Foundation completed a complete refurbishment of the track including cement corners and a storage area and mechanics shop, while the Eaasy Foundation has provided helmets and safety equipment for the riders.

Two Wheels, One Love Project

There are few things Jamaican youth (or children anywhere for that matter) love more than bicycles.  The Oracabessa Foundation is channeling this enthusiasm for cycling into a project which created a curriculum that teaches children to safely ride a bicycle while also teaching principles of love and forgiveness.

With funding from the Fetzer Institute and the Digicel Foundation the Two Wheels One Love Programme aims to impact 250 youngsters in 5 Primary Schools in Western St. Mary.
